Haiti - Politic : «Fanm Yo La» demands the respect of quota of 30% within the CEP

Lisa François Executive Director of the Women's Collective for Women's Political Participation "Fanm Yo La", while commending the efforts of the Government for the numerous appointments of womens to key positions, expressed concern about the lack of women in the Permanent Electoral Council [whose Gabrielle Hyacinthe is the Director General] and appeal the legislative power, whose representatives are not yet been appointed, to meet the quota in its future designations...

"[...] We welcome the appointment of more than 30% women in government, in the current team. 'Fanm Yo La' say bravo for the latest appointments that have been made, the various women who have been named in the Directorates General of several large institutions [Electricity of Haiti (Ms. Andess Apollo), the Directorate General of the Ministry of the Interior (Ms. Hilda Baker Valles), the National Office of Post (Ms. Régine Godefroy)] 'Fanm Yo La' welcomes the efforts being made for the 30% quota is met. But at the same time 'Fanm Yo La' is worried when looking at the CEP [...] and there is a lot of luck, there is no women within it [...] 'Fanm Yo La' take this opportunity to appeal to the legislative body, which, as we know, has not designated its 3 representatives to the CEP and we urge the legislative body to take into account Article 17 of the amended Constitution, which established the quota of 30% women minimum in all areas of power and decision-making"
