Haiti - Tourism : Opening of the Hotel Oasis on December 12, 2012

Monday, Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism, presented and defended the various projects engaged by his ministry within the framework of consultations undertaken by the Senate Committee on Finance. She explained its development plan focused on two tourist poles : the North and the South and its 4 areas of priority interventions : Vocational and continuing training, regulation of tourism, Development and promotion.

Wednesday before leaving for Canada, the Minister of Tourism held an important meeting with the Director General, the Deputy Director of the Spanish Group "Occidental Hotels & Ressorts", the Director of the Hotel Oasis and other members of the Board of Directors, and announced that the new Hotel "Royal Oasis" located at 115 Rue Panamericaine in Petion-Ville, will open its doors December 12, 2012. Some members of the hotel staff will be graduates of the Haitian Hotel School which was relaunched thanks to a subsidy of Clinton-Bush Fund for Haiti to the Oasis Foundation at the end of 2011. Last year, the Clinton-Bush Fund for Haiti has made an investment of $2 million within the Hotel Oasis.

Wednesday, the Minister of Tourism has left the country for Canada in the context of a promotional tour a few days abroad (Canada and New York) where she will meet officials from various institutions working in the areas of Tourism and related as well as academic institutions.

Thursday, Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin had a meeting with Anna Malito, President and CEO of "Tours Mont-Royal" and Louise Fecteau, Vice President Sales and Marketing of this company. Subsequently, the Minister met with officials of McGill University for a program of language training, before meeting for lunch at her hotel, Nancy Roc and the team of Incas Productions Inc. and the marketing agency "Aparapluie". At 6pm, the Minister gave a conference to his hotel for the entrepreneurs.

Friday morning, the Minister of Tourism will meet, Allen B. Graham, President Director General of Air Transat and President of Transat Canada. This afternoon, the agenda of the Minister is available for business appointments. Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin will leave Quebec for New York at 5h30pm.
