Haiti - Politic : The Government and Parliament must take their responsibilities
Reacting to the recent protests across the country, Youri Latortue, Advisor to the President Martelly declared "[...] We are in a rule of law, look at France, Spain... everywhere there are social movements, of demonstrations. I think the police and justice have a duty to oversee the demonstrations and that the Government has a duty to hear the claims and to address them. [...]

In 2011 the level of unemployment in the country was nearly 70%, the level of domestic production very low and the balance of our imports completely negative. It is not in one year that the country will change ! Today, if there are people who say that there are problems, well, it is necessary that the Executive listen them, and find conjunctural solutions in a first time and structural solutions in a second time.

I think the Government has only one role, listen to those who demonstrate [...] and find solutions with them, since it is the Government who is in charge of the Nation.

But it is necessary that Parliament, during this time, also proposes of laws on of social incentives, proposes legislation to structure the question of 'Ti manman Cheri', structuring the issue of school etc... so that things do not have the effect on only a moment, but become of [sustainable] programs so that the country can move forward.

All the authorities who must take their responsibilities, the Government and the Parliament [...] so that we have a legal and economic structure much more reliable, more durable, so that these problems do not arise more..."
