Haiti - Education : Assistance Program for the students of the UEH

The Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, participated Wednesday in the Primature, to the presentation by Klaus Eberwein the Director General of Fund of Economic and Social Assistance (FAES), of project called : "Ede pep, kore etidyan", to implement the promises made on September 12, to the students of the State University of Haiti by the President Martelly https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-6631-haiti-education-constructive-discussions-between-students-and-the-president-martelly.html

In the presence of Mr. Vanneur Pierre, Minister of National Education and Jean Vernet Henry, Rector of the State University of Haiti (UEH), the Director General of the FAES, explained that This program consists primarily to grant a subsidy of 2,000 gourdes monthly during the 9 months (18,000 gourdes in total) of the 2012-2013 academic year to each student of the UEH (estimated at 22.000 students).

Klaus Eberwein indicated that all students who regularly attend classes at the UEH for the 2012-2013 academic year are eligible to this program, and recalled that this initiative is part of the Government's commitment to support young people in their studies.

The Head of Government which attaches a paramount importance to the education in general and higher education in particular, has strongly encouraged the development of this type of program and promised the unwavering support of the Primature, so that our students can be placed in the ideal conditions to better contribute to the development of their country.
