Haiti - Diplomacy : The President Martelly is in Kinshasa

The President Martelly, left Haiti, Thursday to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where he will attend the 14th Summit of the Francophonie, which begins this Friday, October 12 under the theme "Francophonie, Environmental and Economic Challenges facing Global Governance".

Based on the sharing of the French language and the cultural and linguistic diversity and of common values, Francophonie leads political actions of multilateral cooperation [Promote peace, the democracy and human rights ; Supporting education, training, higher education and research ; Develop cooperation at the service of sustainable development and solidarity.]

On the sidelines of the summit, the Head of State will meet François Hollande, [French President] Mr. Yayi Boni [President of Benin] and Pauline Marois, Prime Minister of Quebec, and Mr. Abdou Diouf, Secretary General of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF)

This is the first visit of President Martelly in Africa since he took office May 14, 2011. This Summit will end on Sunday 14th and of the Head of State will be back in Haiti, Monday, October 15, 2012, this same day will take place the National Assembly extraordinary.

Remember that this encounter was announced in July by Ady Jean Gardy, the Minister of Communications and Special Envoy to Haiti in the 19th Summit of the African Union, which was held in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) where he declared in a press conference "[...] I also inform you, that for the next conference of black French Head of State in October, in Kinshasa. We insisted that the President of the Republic, His Excellency Michel Martelly, can not only participate, but for the declaration of the next conference, be drafted by the Republic of Haiti, in order to be able to expose the Government's vision, in terms of global governance and the participation of Haiti as the First black state in America and also, First State to request the inclusion of Africans of the diaspora, within the African Union, a participation decisive."
