Haiti - Economy : Creation of a second Interministerial Commission 16/10/2012 14:11:50 Laurent Lamothe pleaded for the monitoring and development over the next 8 months, of several projects managed by different ministries, within the priority action plan of the Government. The report of this new Commission is expected before the end of October. 20 projects will receive a certain priority of Haitian authorities said Mr. Lamothe, explaining that the members of this Commission will have the task to to provide answers to proposals from domestic and foreign investors. "It is urgent to make progress of important projets," said the Prime Minister, "to avoid the loss of economic opportunities." Preaching the culture of results, the Prime Minister wanted to put an end to some rumors of reshuffle, that circulate in the capital "[...] today, there is no question of change in the Government, all members of the Government are assured of that. In Haiti, there are always lots of rumors, but rumors are rumors... Of course, if there is a Secretary of State, a Director General or a Minister, that does not give the excepted results in a very specific period of time, in this case, we we will be unable to keep this one, because we came with a mandate to deliver results [...]" Concerning the high cost of living, the Minister Lamothe recalled that he had already established an Interministerial Commission, responsible for the stabilization of food prices, that the true sustainable solution, is o create jobs, stressing that the Ministries of Agriculture, Public Works and the Metropolitan Service of Collection of Solid Waste (SMCRS) had created in recent weeks, nearly 77,000 temporary jobs.
