Haiti - Tourism : 40% growth in the number of hotel rooms 14/11/2012 09:57:54 This is the third international hotel chain, which will settle in Haiti in the next four months, alongside of Royal Oasis and the Best Western whose openings are fixed respectively (with a slight delay) in December and January. By the summer of 2013, Haiti will increase its number of hotel rooms from 2.495 to around 3.495. That is to say, in July 2013 the country going to experience a growth of 40% in terms of number of hotel rooms that will help create more than 6,000 jobs according to the figures available at the Ministry of Tourism. As part of this visit the Minister of Tourism met some managers of the hotel including Gonzalo Alcaraz, Director of NH Hotels in the Caribbean, Manuel Casanova, Director of "NH Haiti El Rancho", Mr. Réginald Boulos, President of the Board of Directors of the Société Immobilière et Financière (SIF) and other members of the Board of Directors. "The acquisition of the hotel and the repairs are fully funded by the SIF, said Réginald Boulos, stressing that it is an investment in Haiti, that did not receive any subsidy. Once unique hotel of reference in Haiti, the new 4-star hotel now has 72 rooms [addition of 200 rooms planned within 2 years], 7 conference rooms, a modern gym room, a lobby bar, a restaurant with free WIFI, etc... Today, with the new team, a management policy and of marketing will be developed to restore the hotel its leadership of yesteryear. The management of the new hotel will be provided by the Spanish Group "NH Hotels", while being a Haitian property. NH Hotels ranks third in the European ranking for business hotels and is at the head of 400 hotels, 60.000 rooms in more than 22 countries in Europe, Latin America and Africa.
