Haiti - Tourism : Stephanie Villedrouin signed in Montreal, a partnership agreement with Transat
Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism of Haiti on tour in Montreal from January 8 to 10, has signed a partnership agreement for the promotion of tourism packages with the Canadian Tour Operator Transat, one of the largest integrated tourism companies in the world and leader of the holiday travel industry in Canada, which has just announced the launch of vacation packages to Haiti, from Montreal, from 23 January 2013 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-7548-haiti-tourism-air-transat-launches-a-vacation-package-in-haiti.html

"Our tourism development strategy is based mainly on the collaboration with selected partners as Transat, which will be the first major Canadian tour operator offering holiday packages in Haiti," declared the Minister.

Ms. Villedrouin take advantage of this tour to meet with members of the Haitian diaspora and also meet members of the press to promote Haiti as a tourist destination.

Asked on TVA about the freezing of funds from CIDA, the Minister stated "We want to be an independent country, financially too. Too long, Haiti has depended on donor countries. Here, we want to take our sovereignty, our economy in hand, and what better way to do that through tourism," convinced that Haiti can be free of international aid through tourism "Tourism is an engine for socio-economic development of the first order. Our country has all the potential to reconquer the heart of international travelers," she added.

This Wednesday, the Minister Vildrouin will devote the majority of her day to promote Haiti through interviews with the media, and after 6:00 pm, she will present the tourism initiatives in Haiti and the Transat package before upper at 8:00 pm, with the Minister of Tourism of Quebec.

The Minister of Tourism of Haiti plans to sign other similar agreements that Air Transat with companies such as Air France and Delta in 2013.
