Haiti - Politic : The President officially launched the 2013 National Carnival festivities
Saturday evening at the Queens Ball at the Palais Sans Souci in Milot, the President Michel Martelly officially launched the 2013 National Carnival festivities. In the respect of the tradition, the Head of State has proceeded to the coronation of the Queen Rose Frédelyne Angrand and the King Standers St-Jean, a well deserved tribute to the King builder Henri Christophe.

The President Martelly presented his best wishes to the Queen and King of National Carnival, which takes place this year in the country's second city under the theme "Yon Ayisyen Yon Pye Bwa, Istwa n se idantite n" Twenty Queens, and forty Kings will participate in the official parade from this Sunday.

The ceremony took place in a historic décor, recalling the period of the nineteenth century in Haiti. The Presidential Couple, officials of the Government, the Mayor of Milot, parliamentarians, members of the national committee and those of the regional committee of the National Carnival of Cap-Haitien and others were dressed in period costumes according to the protocol established.

According to Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism, the event carried out in the northern kingdom, brings back the Haitian people to the remember of its history and to the celebration of our humanity found. She believes that this event will be beneficial for the whole country and took the opportunity to extend its congratulations to the organizers for having thought of reviving this historic moment.

For her part, Josette Darguste, the Minister of Culture, recalled that the organization of the Carnival in Cap-Haitien, reflects the firm determination of the Executive to walk in the footsteps of the great visionary, King Henri Christophe. The theme chosen will be the leitmotiv, to awaken the civic conscience inorder to multiply botanical gardens throughout the country, according to the wishes of the administration Martelly-Lamothe, and thus honor the memory of Henri Christophe.

The ball of Queens, took place on a background of beautiful musical entertainment of Bèl Pòz of Milot, of Jacques Sauveur Jean and of Dean of the Haitian popular music, the band Septentrional.

The President Martelly, took the opportunity to honor the musician Michel Tassy for his 50 years in the Orchestre Septentrional.

Reciprocally the "Boule de Feu Internationale" has awarded a plaque Honor and Merit to the President Martelly for his undeniable contribution to Haitian music.
