Haiti - Justice : Towards the trial of Clifford Brandt and his accomplices 14/03/2013 11:34:04
In his closing the Judge states it is necessary to bring to justice the 20 following charged : " a) Clifford H. Brandt, Carlo Bendel Saint-Fort, Edner Comé aka Travelino Jackson, for kidnapping, sequestration of people against ransom, criminal conspiracy, false, use of false, death threats, usurpation of title, possession of illegal firearms and money laundering. b) Rico Pierre-Val aka Dje, Edson Forgue, Jean Bernard aka JB, Berthony Dumézil, Jean-Marc Mira aka 14, Elissoit Charles aka I, Jeff aka Jakmel, for kidnapping, sequestration of people against ransom and all charges above except death threats. c) Marc-Arthur Phébé, pour enlèvement, for kidnapping, sequestration of people against ransom, money laundering, conspiracy, complicity of illegal possession of firearms. d) Gérald Fontélus, Oneste Gabélus, Jacques Darly Michelais, Fritz Aristide for kidnapping, sequestration of people against ransom, conspiracy, complicity in money laundering, complicity of illegal possession of firearms. e) Emerson Mirand, Fadner Novalus for illegal possession of firearms, conspiracy, complicity of kidnapping and sequestration of people against ransom. f) Sawadienne Jean, Franck Sintérine, Evince Larrieux, for complicity of the facts of kidnapping and ransom of individuals against ransom and conspiracy. g) Carline Richema for complicity of facts of kidnapping by concealment of objects and conspiracy; ince it results against them sufficient evidence and consistent relative to all these charges, charged to them, likely to justify their guilt before the trial court. We refer them consequently, to the criminal court sitting without a jury for trial in accordance with Articles 2 says 293-1, 293-8, 293-11 of the Act of 20 March 2009 on the kidnapping, sequestration and taking of hostages of people; the articles 44, 45, 46, 109, 110, 224, 225, 226, 227, 250 and following of the Penal Code, Articles 1.1c), 1.2, 4.2.1 of the Act of 21 February 2001 on money laundering . Articles 2 and 16 of the Decree of 1 June 1989 on the conditions of ownership, possession and use of firearms. We order that they are taken and imprisoned in the National Penitentiary if they are already not there. Finally, we order that all evidence in the file of the proceedings, and this Ordinance, are transmitted to the Government Commissioner for law suites." Note that 7 other indictees are still being sought they are : Fadner Norvalus, Jean Bernard aka JB, Elissoit Charles aka I, Emerson Mirand, Edner Comé aka Travelino Jackson, Jeff aka Jackmel and Mira Jean Marc aka 14.
