Haiti - Politic : Laurent Lamothe arouses the interest of Brazilian business sector
Tuesday, second day of his official visit to Brazil, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, accompanied, among others, of René Jean-Jumeau, Minister of Energy, Clifford Apaid, Grégory Mevs, Reuven Bigio, Henri Claude Poiteven, went to the headquarters of Brasilinvest Group, one of the largest investment funds in Brazil to meet its President Mario Garnero. Was also present at that meeting several representatives of other major financial groups. At the end of the meeting the Prime Minister did not hide his satisfaction, announcing that Brasilinvest would work with Haiti to develop some financial models for the financing of large infrastructure projects.

On Wednesday, the Prime Minister, accompanied by Haitian businessmen began its third day of his official visit, by going to the headquarters of the firm Odebrecht, where he met Marcelo Odebrecht the CEO. Through a video presention, the Prime Minister Lamothe explained to Mr. Odebrecht that to move forward, Haiti needed private investment firms like his. Mr. Odebrecht agreed to establish a partnership with the Haitian government in order to jointly present, of projects of reconstruction of infrastructure to private financial institutions.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister met Kakinoff Paulo, the CEO of the Brazilian airline GOL. The objective was to convince the airline to offer direct flights to Haiti as well as for certain destinations in the diaspora as Orlando. The development of a cooperation, to make of Haiti a new tourist destination for Brazilians, was also on the agenda of the Prime Minister which has announced at the end of this meeting, that a team of GOL will soon travel to Haiti to explore the possibilities of cooperation.



Thereafter, Laurent Lamothe met with the Mayor of Sao Paulo, Fernando Haddad to discuss cooperation opportunities between Port-au-Prince and São Paulo. The Head of Government said that the mayor of São Paulo had expressing its interest to collaborate in various public services including that of the transportation and management of taxes, announcing the imminent signing of an agreement and the arrival in Haiti of a Brazilian delegation, noting that São Paulo, modern city of nearly 20 million, representing 12% of the Brazilian GDP.

In the evening, Laurent Lamothe, accompanied by the Ambassador of Haiti in Brazil, Madsen Chérubin met the Haitian community of Sao Paulo, which gave him a warm welcome, taking advantage of the visit of the Head of Government, to submit their grievances. The Prime Minister and the Ambassador promised to our countrymen to take the necessary in the best time.
