Haiti - Politic : Moscow alongside Haiti 30/05/2013 12:20:57
Wednesday in Moscow, following a meeting of the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergueï Lavrov, with representatives of the "troika extended" (Cuba, Chile, Costa Rica and Haiti) of the Community of Latin American countries and Caribbean States (CELAC), has in a joint statement "reasserted the disposition of Moscow to continue to participate in international efforts to help the Republic of Haiti to rebuild the country. Russia and expanded troika of CELAC, called on the international community to increase its assistance in order to ensure the sustainable development of Haiti while respecting the sovereignty of this country." For his part, Pierre Richard Casimir, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Haiti, stressed the participation of his country in the extended Troika since January 2013 and the Haitian presence in the alliance of regional integration, stating that Haiti was determined to play an active role in the region through mechanisms of continental integration of the CELAC and others of which Haiti is member "We are happy to participate in this meeting because of the key role Russia plays in the international arena and as one of the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council," Haitian Minister appreciated, recognizing the contribution of Russia to the efforts of Peace to the stability and development of Haiti.
At the end of the meeting, on the abolition of visas for Russian, Sergueï Lavrov declared "We set an objective, and I hope that we can reach it as soon as possible. This objective is to establish visa-free regime between Russia and the CELAC [...] it would be a great contribution to the strengthening of relations, will create more favorable conditions for communication between people and in general the development of all aspects of relations between the countries [...] We also discussed the mutual benefit of our Nation to intensify exchanges in the field of culture, education and science [...]" Currently, Moscow has already signed visa waiver agreements with most countries of the regional alliance, including Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Peru and Ecuador. In addition, Pierre Richard Casimir also met Georgy G. Petrov, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moscow and held a bilateral meeting with Sergueï Lavrov.
