Haiti - Education : Claims unclear at Campus Henry Christophe...
A small group of students disrupts sporadically for almost a month, the proper functioning of the new Henri Christophe University of Limonade (CHCL) open only since 6 months.

In a statement, the State University of Haiti (UEH), is surprised at the attitude of this group of students who want to interfere with the proper functioning of the campus, on the basis that the list of sectors and the names of the deans are not yet published.

"The UEH bring to the attention of the general public, students from CHCL in particular, that the list of sectors that will be open within the framework of the list of sectors for the new academic year 2013-2014 was published on 9 May 2013, to the general satisfaction and includes the following disciplines :

  • Agribusiness and Agriculture ;
  • Environment and Planning ;
  • Administration management and Economics and Political Science ;
  • Letters Humanities and Social Sciences ;
  • Medicine and Health Sciences ;
  • Exact Sciences and Engineering and Information Technology ;
  • Science of the Education ;
  • Tourism, Heritage, History and Geography. »

The UEH recalls that "the claims of these students, are expectations, which have already been met" and disapproves sporadic actions of this group, which hinder, for nearly a month, the work of more motivated. "This behavior is unacceptable and calls the more formal disapproval of the Management Council of CHCL and of Rectorate who intend to ensure the smooth running of the campus. Our academic responsibility and moral obliges us to protect and support the largest number in his desire to learn.

We solemnly call on students who want to hinder the process of implementation to resume their mind and take all measures to calmly pass the examinations who must decide of their academic and career orientation."

Professor Jean-Marie Théodate, Chairman of the Board of Management of the University of Limonade also does not understand the merits of these rotest movement. "We're putting up eight sectors of excellence in partnership with the best universities in France, Canada, the United States and the Caribbean [...] They have everything they want, [...] This is completely irrational [...]"
