Haiti - Tourism : Prospecting-perspectives mission in Limbé and Bas-Limbé
Sunday, Mrs. Dieudonne Luma Étienne, Northern Regional Director of the Ministry of Tourism at the head of a delegation of several executives of her Bureau, proceeded to an important day of exploration and perspectives in the municipalities of Limbé and Bas-Limbé in order to study the possibility for the Ministry of Tourism, to accompany some strong elements of the tourism potential of these areas, including the Museum Guahaba of Limbé, the Site of Saut d'Eau and Caramel Beach.

Joining Franzdy Dagobert, the main Mayor of the Municipality of Limbé, Mrs. Etienne visited the Museum Guahaba "The purpose of this visit is to restructure and rehabilitate the museum to make it alive and economically beneficial to the area, and the Ministry of Tourism can always bring its hand side in this direction", indicated the Northern Regional Director.

According to the expert in heritage, Eddy Lubin, "This museum houses a collection of great value, which attests of the waves of occupation on Haitian soil by of people in the Archaic, Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic periods. The museum also presents material evidence of the French colonization of the time of Santo Domingo [...]"



After visiting "Roche à l'Inde", another site within a locality of Limbé, the delegation went to Bas-Limbé to meet the "Dede" of Saut d'Eau, where is located a large waterfall and a voodoo shrine, a place of religious pilgrimage. Together with the Mayor of the area, Mrs. Dieudonne Luma Étienne said to consider the possibility that the Ministry of Tourism, provide accompaniment for the rehabilitation of the site.

During this mission, the Regional Office also visited Caramel Beach (Bas-Limbé) where go people from the neighboring towns. Note that this Beach begins to regain its value through funds of about 1.7 million gourdes provided by the Ministry of Tourism to the City of Bas-Limbé for the development of this site.

In addition, the Delegation of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Tourism North visited the construction of the Unloading dock (Débarcadère) of Acul du Nord and confirmed that works are progressing. Northern Regional Office said that the construction of the Unloading dock in Acul, will allow tourists of the Royal Caribean Cruise Line, arriving by boat at the dock, to be able to visit the National Historical Park composed of the Citadelle la Ferrière of Milot, the Sans Souci Palace and Ramiers sites.
