Haiti - Politic : Problems in the Commissions of Inquiry
Thursday, Senator Simon Dieuseul Desras, announced that the report of the Special Senate Committee of Inquiry into the circumstances of the death of the magistrate Jean Serge Joseph, was delivered to the office of the Senate. 24 hours later, the Senator announced to have returned this report to the Commission for irregular deposit, stating that the filing of this report should have been done in plenary...

Friday, Deputy Sadrack Dieudonné, President of the Commission of Inquiry of the Lower House and leader of the opposition bloc "Parliamentarians for Institutional Strengthening" (PRI), says that the Commissioners intend to conduct a serious investigation and that it will take longer than the 15 days originally planned. He recalled that the Commission wanted to audition Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, his driver and close security guard as well as those of President Martelly. He accuses Jean Tholbert Alexis, President of the Lower House, to put obstacles in the Commission and makes him responsible for the delay, by refusing to sign and deliver the invitations for the new hearings wanted.

Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe declared recently "A lot of rumors and false information circulating around the sad death of Judge Jean Serge Joseph. It is unfortunate to note that some people use a tragic incident in an attempt to destabilize our country [...] I've never had the privilege of meeting Judge Jean Serge Joseph, who was a highly respected jurist and a distinguished public servant [...]" accusing the opposition of trying to exploit the death of the judge, in order to discredit the President and the Government.
