For her part Edmonde Supplice Beauzile, President of the Fusion of Haitian Social Democrats, asked the Head of State to create conditions that foster an open dialogue between stakeholders... OPL in an open letter to the Head of State wrote "[...] The Executive Committee of the OPL was surprised to learn that the theme of this meeting invites to a 'Dialogue on Elections' whereas, atthe general opinion, the power not think about it [...]" Faced with this refusal, the Private Office of the Presidency, in a note "bring to the attention of the parties, organizations and political groupings that following the remarks of some politicians and in order to create a wider channel for dialogue between the actors involved in the construction of democracy, the meeting originally scheduled for Wednesday 14 Aug. 2013 at Karibe Convention Center is canceled. Pending further consultations to create a more conducive environment to these democratic discussions, the Private Office of the President urges the parties, organizations and political groups to believe in the will of the Executive to create a climate of political detente that would guarantee the stability and security, prerequisites for the creation of employment and sustainable development."
