Haiti - Culture : Opening of the 11th edition of CARIFESTA in Suriname
The 11th edition of the Festival of Arts of the Caribbean (CARIFESTA) officially started Friday, August 16, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. (Surinam), on the Independence Square, in front of the presidential palace, with the parade of delegations of 34 participating countries.

Music, theater, choreography had punctuated the first day during which the Minister of Education and of the Culture and President Desire Delano Bourterse of Surinam have welcomed the nationals of the 15 CARICOM nations, to the invited countries and all foreigners for this edition of CARIFESTA. The General Secretariat of CARICOM did the same. The welcoming statements of guests and of launch of the activities of CARIFESTAs XI of each participant highlighted the celebration of friendship and common regional and individual wealth of the peoples of the Caribbean.



Haiti intends to achieve a real achievement in Suriname where the countries involved in the field of music (Tabou Combo, Wyclef Jean and Ti Koka), dance, folklore, crafts, ancestral traditions, gastronomy, fashion and design.
