Haiti - Economy : Prime Minister defends his draft finance law (2013-2014)

Thursday, Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe accompanied, among others, by Karl Jean-Louis his Chief of Staff, Lucien Francoeur, the Secretary-General of the Primature, of David Bazile, the Minister of the Interior and Local Government, Ronald Décembre, the Secretary of State for Tax Reform and Abel Metellus, the Director General of budget, met in Senate, members of the Economy and Finance Commission, in order to defend the draft finance law 2013-2014, already ratified by the Chamber of Deputies https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9182-haiti-politic-since-june-10-2013-no-law-has-been-passed.html

According to the communications office of the Primature, "This bill reflects the Strategic Development Plan for Haiti developed by the Martelly administration, will mark, once adopted, the end of the ultra-liberal policy

practiced in the country during the last 25 years by governments that have succeeded. It also aims to promote domestic production through a strong agricultural recovery and allow the country to regain its economic and financial sovereignty by the value of its various strengths and taking advantage of its resources."

Before the Commission, the Prime Minister declared "Concerning this bill, gentlemen honorable senators : to reduce poverty requires some sacrifices. It is time for a paradigm shift. We need both to make our domestic production stronger, our youth better educated, our agriculture better efficient, our tourism most flourishing, brief our economy most competitive and solidarity."

During this meeting, members of the Committee, chaired by Senator Jocelerme Privert have made ​​some recommendations going in the direction of the decommissioning of certain budget lines in the budget allocated to the Ministry of the Interior, in the context of strengthen certain programs related to education and agriculture.

After this meeting, the Prime Minister reiterated to the members of the Commission, the commitment of the administration Martelly and his Government to continue to work for the welfare of the Haitian people.
