Haiti - Social : Incident in Neyba, Dominican official version

In a press release on the incident of Neyba "The Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Haiti inform the General Public that the Dominican Government deplores the incidents in which an elderly couple, José Mendez and his wife Luja Encarnacion Diaz, died in the hands of a Haitian national, known as the name of Coito Pie, which was himself later killed by a group of people outraged because of the crime he had committed. The motive of the crime perpetrated against old Dominican, was to robbing them of part of their coffee crop.

Under the influence of anger, some Dominicans have threatened to kill other Haitian nationals, reason why many of them feel threatened, abandoned their homes to seek refuge in the Military Base of the place where they received military protection. Immediately after the request of the persecuted, the military accompanied them to the border of Jimani-Malpasse.

This sudden exit suggests that the Dominican Republic, is currently conducting a massive deportation of Haitian workers and this is not the case. At the moment, the situation in the Municipality of Neyba is under control of the authorities and efforts are made ​​to ensure that calm returns in this laborious community."

Also Colonel Félix Familia Ramirez confirmed to the Consul of Haiti in Barahona, that two people of Haitian origin Andrès Pie aka "Coito Pie" (since lynched by Dominican) and an accomplice known as Papo Sani, are accused of murder in this case.
