Haiti - Social : This Friday, day of Demonstrations (UPDATE 4h19 p.m.)
Following the anti-government protest on 18 November which had gathered ten thousand person https://www.haitilibre.com/article-9898-haiti-social-manifestations-en-cours-maj-18h03.html the opposition parties gathered within the "Patriotic Movement of the Democratic Opposition" (MOPOD) which includes twenty opposition parties including, among others : RDNP, PLH, PROP, Ayisyen pou Ayiti, KID, Ansanm Nou Fo, INITE, Fusion and OPL ; and within the "Patriotic Force for the Respect of the Constitution" (FOPARC), decided to organized a demonstration this Friday, November 29, 2013.

The FOPARC is divided among its members, some will make a demonstration in front of the U.S. embassy located in Tabarre which will be closed at the occasion of the Thanksgiving, while another branch will be at Ruelle Vaillant to commemorate the 26th anniversary of the massacre perpetrated at the latter in the first democratic elections post-Duvalier, in the same place Lavalas officials will lay flowers in memory.

Patriotic Movement of the democratic opposition (MOPOD) said to support all events as part of the anti-government mobilization, calling on its supporters to participate in both sit-in, at the ruelle Vaillant an d before the American Embassy.

For his part, the deputy of Delmas, Arnel Bélizaire and its allies in the FOPARC confirmed he will be before the U.S. Embassy in Tabarre, Senator Moïse Jean-Charles should also be present to demand the departure of President Martelly...

Wednesday at a press conference, Moïse Jean Charles indicated that the battle to end the sovereignty of Haiti is part of a revolutionary process, the mobilization will continue until the departure of power in place, wishing another government that will be able to take over the country. While Thursday, he stated that the presidency of Michel Martelly will not survive until the second Monday of January 2014, adding that the demonstration of 29 November will mark a new stage in the struggle to overthrow the government, promising that the Haitian people can live quiet after the departure of Martelly.

While students of the Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) announced the holding of a demonstration and a sit-in outside the offices of the Ministry of Justice Tuesday, 3 December to demand justice and compensation for the student Ronel Désir seriously injured November 18 at the right hand (currently being treated in Cuba), by a tear gas grenade that would have been thrown by the police.

Update 11h30 a.m. :
At the U.S. Embassy in Tabarre the security has been strengthened, the vehicle flow is controlled, the National Police of Haiti is on site. The demonstration was launched in Bel-air earlier,and should be joined by other groups of protesters from the popular districts of the metropolitan area, they are in the direction of the American Embassy, at the level of Delmas Road, participants in the event (several thousands), shouting hostile words against the regime and especially demanding the departure of Martelly.

Update 3h00 p.m. :
A demonstration was also held in Cap-Haitien, bringing together thousands of people, they demand the departure of the Head of State, and commemorates the massacre of th ruelle Vaillant. In Tabarre police had to intervene with tear gas to disperse groups of demonstrators wanting to go to the American Embassy by circuitous routes, in retaliation they erected barricades of burning tires and threw stones at police. A strong police presence was noted from the Office of Vehicle Insurance Against Third Party (OAVCT) (corner of Route Tabarre and Tabarre 52) until Carrefour Fleuriot (corner Tabarre Road and Boulevard Toussaint Louverture), forcing the protesters to find a new route to get to the Embassy. While Maryse Narcisse, National Coordinator of the Fanmi Lavalas party went to the Ruelle Vaillant to deliver a message before going to the Champ de Mars.

Update 4h19 p.m. :
Today, while events are held in various part of the metropolitan area, the President of the Republic, Michel Martelly, was at the National Palace to attend a lunch debate on the commemoration of the date of November 29 in company of several Haitian personalities : Gérard Gourgue, Prosper Avril, Hérard Abraham, Jacques Sampeur and Victor Benoit... In Cap-Haïtien demonstrations have ended without incidents, the procession of protesters left from downtown went to Vertières in order to deliver their message, the latter expressed their intention to continue to protest until the departure of Michel Martelly.

Senator Moïse Jean Charles and the Patriotic Force for the Respect of the Constitution (FOPARC) could not get at the level of American Embassy in Tabarre, they were welcomed by the police force, which have blocked them, at the level of Carrefour Fleuriot, with tear gas, protesters have tried to borrow other road but the police were at the rendezvous, ensued barricades of burning tires, throwing stones... what ended the day of demonstrations.
