Haiti - Social : Decline in the returns of Haitian from Dominican Republic 03/12/2013 12:23:17
Friday, Major David Bazile, the Minister of Interior and Territorial Communities, together with Pierre Richard Casimir, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, during a press conference regarding the evolution of the situation prevailing in the Haitian-Dominican border since the incidents that occurred in the town of Las Petacas, Municipality of Neyba, Dominican Republic on November 22, the Ministry of the Interior indicated that 484 returnees constitute the last official balance sheet, of Haitians revenues from neighboring Republic to escape the pressure and threats against them by Dominican citizen. He pointed out that the flow of returnees has declained since, Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013. The two ministers reported a Haitian death confirmed in this case, referring to the information provided by the Diplomatic Representative of Haiti to the Dominican Republic who has conducted on-site investigations. Minister Bazile who lamented his death, gave the assurance that the Government in addition to the effective support of returnees at the border, also ensure their reintegration. The Minister of the Interior launched again, an appeal for calm to the Haitian people, inviting them to preserve good relations between Haitians and Dominicans living in Haiti, practicing tourism, trade or intervening at the level of the reconstruction of Haitian infrastructure.
