Haiti - Politic : The MOPOD becomes a Political Party, the KID seceded
The "Patriotic Movement of the Democratic Opposition" (MOPOD), which brings together the main opposition parties met in retreat the past weekend on the coast of Arcadins to reflect on the socio-political situation and position itself in relation to inter-Haitian dialogue initiated between the executive, political parties and civil society, under the mediation of the Episcopal Conference of Haiti (CEH).
During this retreat MOPOD members decided in a resolution to transform the movement into a political party and reassert inter alia, their determination to obtain the resignation of Martelly / Lamothe regime. The MOPOD refuses to participate in a dialogue on the one hand it considers as non-inclusive and secondly as not taking into account the real problems of the country. Note that this resolution has not been signed by representatives of the KID nor OPL
Paul Evans, the leader of the "Konvansyon Inite Demokratik" (KID), decided to withdraw from MOPOD, explaining that "The current political situation requires the KID to change policy strategy [...] KID can not be both for dialogue and be part simultaneously in an anti-dialogue approach [...]"
