Haiti - Economy : Prime Minister impressed by the National Brewery plant

Monday, Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe visited the

National brewery (BRANA), producer of the Prestige beer in Haiti (acquired by Heineken Group), which has invested $ 20 million in the modernization of BRANA, to increase by 50% its production capacity and bottling.

The Head of Government was impressed especially by the brewhouse and laboratories of BRANA and has welcomed the commitment of the Heineken Group to invest up to $100 million over 5 years in the National Brewery. After seeing the manufacturing process of Prestige, the Prime Minister declared : "Prestige se plis pase yon bwason, se yon senbòl pou Ayiti. Se yon senbòl de ki sa nou ka fè an Ayiti. Se yon pwèv tou ke Ayiti pare pou envestisman."

With more than 1,200 employees whose 99% are Haitian, and a partnership with the Haitian universities "We have at Brana a workforce of quality in order to continue be the pride of Haiti," declared Régine René Labrousse, the Director of Public Affairs of BRANA.

For José Matthijsse, Director General of BRANA the presence of the Head of Government "is a moment of pride that we celebrate along the whole country [...]" reassuring the public about the local supply "With the installation of this new line, we are confident that we can meet our demand both locally and internationally."

On the sidelines of his visit, the Prime Minister Lamothe, reiterated the strong support of his government to create conditions of guarantee, of protection and security for foreign investors and entrepreneurs, in the perspective of creating jobs, growth and wealth in the country.

Moreover, Laurent Lamothe called again parliamentarians to vote the Bill on Electronic Commerce to upgrade the business environment in Haiti.
