Friday, as part of -the opening this Saturday of the "Gouvènman an lakay ou" program in La Gonâve Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, at the head of a large delegation, which included several ministers of his government went to Pointe-à-Raquette on the island of La Gonâve.

His field visit to this commune was for the Government to inquire about the situation of extreme poverty, to interact with people around their social needs with the aim of providing urgent and sustainable solutions there. Concerned about the socio-economic situation on the island, the prime minister visited the health center, the national school, the playground and habitats, in order to be better informed about the precarious living conditions of the population. He also took the opportunity to distribute school kits to school children whose schools have received government donation of 250 beds. Of domestic production, these furnitures are made from recycled plastic bags.

"We are outraged by what we saw. But we will not stand watching people live in this situation idly. We will strengthen our actions in the context of our special plan for the island, through which we want to improve the living conditions of the population; we want to build infrastructure," assured the head of government.

"With our government, La Gonâve will not perish, it must not die. It is a moral duty to come to the needs of vulnerable populations. We are very sensitive, we are deeply touched and want to act quickly and effectively [...] The change in La Gonâve is imminent and immediate. We must start now [...] We want to promote the island, highlighting its potential in areas of tourism, fisheries and agriculture," added the head of government.
