Monday, Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of National Education, during a press conference on the Teaching Condition announced that 1,000 teachers will be integrated soon in the payment system of finance, bringing to 2,000 the number of teachers affected among the 7,000 waiting with a letter of appointment.

He indicated that the 1,000 teachers recently integrated into the ministry budget will receive by the end of October salary arrears.

The Minister Manigat wants to believe, that between the projected savings through better management of the budget of MENFP, the retirement of employees fulfilling the legal conditions, the recovery of outstanding checks of deceased employees, absentee or in situations of abandonment, the Ministry will find the provisions necessary to achieve a large part of remaining 5,000 teachers, if not all.

Emphasizing on the willingness of the government team that is constantly working to achieve the gradual improvement of the teaching condition, the Minister stressed that it takes time to permanently solve a problem that has lasted for many years, despite the total mobilization of his administration. He asks, teachers patience and understanding in order to achieve a satisfactory solution for all.

Manigat The Minister recalled that several major initiatives had already been taken to improve the status of teachers, including :

• The particular status of education personnel, backed by a decree signed by the Prime Minister that allows 27,000 teachers listed in the public sector to benefit from certain advantages over their profession ;

• The issuing shortly of the provisional license to teach (PPE) that will change after two years, in a teaching license, which will open the door to a range of benefits provided by companies of the place ;

• The wage increase in April, which ranges from 30-60%, depending on the categories of staff ;

• The minimum wage increase for teacher to 40%;

• The new pay scale on which is currently working a Commission ;

• The census conducted in September to establish a national registry of teachers which has already enumerated, 170,000 teachers in the system and for which a comprehensive training program is planned.
