Haiti - NOTICE : Official reopening of the Dominican Consulates

Following the various diplomatic exchanges and to the Jimani agreements concluded last Friday https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13378-haiti-diplomacy-positive-bilateral-meeting-in-jimani.html the Dominican Republic announced in an official note dated March 15, 2015, the reopening of its 5 consulates in Haiti from Tuesday, March 17, 2015.

"On the instructions of His Excellency Mr. Minister of External Relations of the Dominican Republic, Andrés Navarro García, through His Excellency Mr. Ruben Silié Valdez, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Dominican Republic to Haiti, we inform that all Dominican consulates will be open from Tuesday, March 17, 2015.

The five Dominican Consulates : Port-au-Prince, Cap-Haïtien, Belladère, Ouanaminthe and Anse-à-Pitre, will open to their regular hours, from 9am to 3pm."

A reopening that will undoubtedly please among others, the thousands of Haitian merchants of bi-weekly markets (Malpasse-Ganthier, Dajabón-Ouanaminthe, Elías Piña-Belladère and Pedernales-Anse-à-Pitres) who must frequently use the Dominican consular services to obtain permits to cross the border as part of their business activities.
