Haiti - Elections : The National Archives promises to be quick
This week, as part of the electoral process, Wilfrid Bertrand, Director of the National Archives of Haiti (ANH) indicated that significant steps had been taken to enable potential candidates to quickly obtain a birth certificate or archive extract to participate in elections.

"We put our VIP lounge at their disposal. They can call the VIP service at 2818 1111, before going to our office located at Bicentenaire and within 48 hours they will have the document," Wilfrid Bertrand said, adding that the candidates who are in the cities of provinces will not need to come to Port-au-Prince to demand an archive extracted and they can call the emergency numbers made available to them: North: 3863-9906, South and Southeast: 3863-0643

He asked the future candidates not to wait until the last minute to file their application documents of civil status essential for their inscriptions in the upcoming elections.

For candidates and voters who would have no identification paper, Wilfrid Bertrand said that the presidential decree published January 16, 2014 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11852-haiti-justice-late-registration-of-birth-easy-and-free.html , allows to quickly get their birth certificate and extract archives, without recourse to a trial and that this order applies not only to civil government officers in Haiti but also to all the consuls of Haiti abroad.

Finally he pointed to future candidates that the specialized agencies in the delivery of letters: the Post Office of Haiti, Unitransfert, Rapide Plus and Sogexpress, which are on the whole territory, only provide a proximity service to voters and do not respond to urgent cases of candidates.

Also, let's remind future voters that the Decree amending the Decree of 1 June 2005 on the National Identification Card, states that the validity of National Identification Cards (CIN) issued in the years 2005, 2006 and 2007 is extended to December 31, 2017 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13298-haiti-elections-a-decree-extends-the-validity-of-cin-expiring.html .
