Haiti - Diplomacy : The future repatriations discussed within the CMB 07/06/2015 12:46:07
Saturday, the Joint Bilateral Commission (CMB) met in Haiti in Port-au-Prince. The Haitian delegation led by Lener Renauld, the Minister of Foreign Affairs was composed among others of Daniel Supplice, the Ambassador of Haiti to the Dominican Republic, Ariel Henry, Minister of Interior and Territorial Communities, Hadrian Cyril Woel, Secretary of State for Public Security, Claude Raymond Jr., Director General Immigration and Immigration, Ambassador Régine Lamur, in charge of the bilateral Joint Commission, Madelin Fils-Aimé, Chief of Staff of the Chancellery and Herard Abraham, Adviser among other members of the Foreign Ministry. The Dominican delegation was headed by Chancellor Andrés Navarro was composed among others of Major General Ruben Paulino Sem, the Director of Immigration, Washington González, Deputy Minister of the Interior and Police, Rubén Silié, the Dominican Ambassador in Port-au-Prince, Roberto Martínez Villanueva, Responsible for Joint Bilateral Commission, Alberto Despradel, Head of relations with Haiti; Fernando Ferrand, Director of Strategic Analysis, Julio César Santana, Director of Information Ethics and transparency, and Miguel Medina, Director of Communications of the Chancellery. The two Chancellors discussed around the process of coordination and repatriation of our compatriots living in an irregular migratory situation in Dominican territory after 17 June. Andrés Navarro gave an update on the progress and results of the National Plan for the Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE) and said that so far the PNRE had registered a total of 239,368 foreigners, including 222,033 Haitians or 96% of all regularization applicants. He reiterated that there would be no mass deportations and that the repatriation process will be held in the strictest respect for human rights within the framework of the Constitution and the law of migration recalling that his country "[...] is engaged in a process of regularization of foreign without precedent, with large financial efforts, while respecting the sovereign mandate of the law and above all, committed to respect for human rights, which have allowed nearly 250,000 foreign nationals, opt for legal immigration status." Please note that registration in PNRE does not guarantee the automatic regularization of the applicant which must meet several criteria defined in the implementing legislation of this Plan.
