Reacting to the announcement of the resumption of commercial activities between the two countries, the Embassy of the United States stated in a note "The US Government is very pleased that high GOH officials have issued a public statement guaranteeing the safety of all trucks arriving from the Dominican Republic. Moreover, following the closure of the border and blockage of last Monday of the binational market by union leaders of Ouanaminthe and other Northeast towns https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14941-haiti-economy-border-closed-by-haitian-in-dajabon.html threatening to recidivate tomorrow, Friday market day a large contingent of police was deployed in Haiti in Ouanaminthe for precaution.

The Minister Casimir, announced that these security measures were intended to guarantee and ensure the free movement of people and goods and the proper conduct among others of bi-weekly commercial activities, warning in his note that "All people who engage in acts of vandalism, intimidation or other maneuvers that could undermine the principle of freedom of movement and the safety of lives and property will be systematically apprehended by the police and prosecuted by justice in accordance with the law."

Moreover he launched a call to the population of border areas in order they offer their full cooperation to the PNH, necessary to maintain order and a climate of peace. Finally invites residents and users to "cultivate civility and friendliness values indispensable to the preservation and strengthening of social cohesion."
