Dozens of sugar cane workers "cañeros" in the Dominican Republic proceeded to the expedition to de facto President Jocelerme Privert, of several boxes containing 4,608 copies of requests for documents, made by Haitian citizens to the Embassy of Haiti in Santo Domingo,as part of the qualification process to the National Regularization Plan of Foreigners (PNRE) which was completed in July 2015.

Note that since January 2015, several thousand "cañeros" Haitian, paid each 1,000 pesos claimed by Haiti to obtain: a birth certificate, a passport and a National Identification Card (CIN). Documents always promised but never delivered, despite numerous protests outside the Haitian diplomatic representations.

Unionist Jésus Nunez Spokesperson of cañeros" and coordinator of the Union of sugar cane workers in the bateyes, says that the government of Haiti has misled them and it does nothing for its nationals to obtain their papers and have a better life in the Dominican Republic.

He added that the sending of these copies of requests, seeking to push the Haitian government to take swift action on the issue, to improve the situation of the Haitian diaspora.
