More than 31,000 candidates in the local elections

More than 31,000 candidates, including 38.92% of women, will take part in local elections on 29 January. There will also be 8 senators participating in the second game (2 having won from the first round). In addition, 75,725 representatives were registered by the political parties.

This Thursday morning, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security organized a Requiem Mass at the Sacred Heart Church in Turgeau to commemorate the disappearance of 26 members of the Ministry's staff during the January 2010 earthquake.

Follow-up of the preparations of the January 29 poll

The preparations are going well for the organization of local elections and the second round of the third of the Senate on 29 January. Sensitive materials are expected to arrive in Haiti on 18 and 21 January, confirmed Uder Antoine, the Executive Director of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), adding that the distribution of non-sensitive materials is underway in different regions of the country.
