Haiti - Politics : First victory of Jovenel Moïse
Following the commitment of President Jovenel Moïse to resolve the crisis in public hospitals, an agreement was signed in the evening of Thursday 23 February between the Presidential Commission and the National Federation of Health Workers (FENATRAS).

Have signed for the Presidential Commission: Guichard Doré, Rudy Hérivaux and Dr. Max Rudolph Saint-Albin and for the Union Syndicale: Jean Wilhème Vincent, Roseta Georges Alisma and Félix Milot Lévy.

In addition to the lifting of the strike in the 19 public hospitals in Haiti, which had continued since 19 December 2016, it was decided between the parties to set up a Commission composed of representatives of the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of the Interior, Economy and Finance, in order to take into account the demand for salary adjustment formulated by the health staff of these hospitals. The Commission will take the necessary arrangements to facilitate the payment of the arrears of wages of the contractual staff of those institutions. It will analyze, on a case-by-case basis, the needs for regularization of hired staff.

In the framework of this agreement, it was also decided to create a National Commission for Health Reform and of Hospital Services.

Following the signing of this agreement, at a joint press conference, the parties agreed to respect the commitments made within the framework of this document. FENATRAS also demanded that health workers resume work, as of Friday all over the country.
