Max Rudolph Saint-Albin, the Minister of the Interior and Local Government, announced that in July 2017, all Reception and Delivery Centers for Identification Documents (CRLDI) produced a record of 72,264 passports, of which 64,517 were delivered.

Welcoming the outcome, he said that all outstanding passport files were totally eliminated by the end of July, in line with the deadline set as part of the reorganization operation.

Minister Saint-Albin pointed out that currently the Immigration and Emigration Directorate (DIE) is only working on new requests. With a production capacity of 4,000 passports, on average, per day, for a daily demand of about 2,200 passports, the DIE has also been instructed in order to multiply efforts to reach the standard of 5 working days for the production of any application of passport normally filed.

In addition, the Ministry intends to continue to introduce new provisions in order to consolidate these advances. The Minister also announced a new partnership with the Haiti Post Office, which will soon deliver passports and other identity documents directly to the applicant.

Now, it just remains to provide the same delay and the same quality of service in the diaspora where delays of several months are common, as it is not a matter of years as in the Dominican Republic, which as passports must be satisfied with promises never kept of the Haitian government
