Haiti - Politics : Jovenel Moïse promises documents to illegal Haitians in DR

Following the unfulfilled promises and the $ 2 million fiasco of the Haitian Immigrant Identification and Documentation Program (PIDIH) launched in July 2014 by the Haitian Government within the framework of the National Plan for the Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14432-haiti-politic-failure-of-pidih-a-fiasco-of-$2-million.html ;

After the promise not kept by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Pierrot Délienne, to provide passports to 140,000 Haitians registered in the PNRE before the end of 2016 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-18265-haiti-politic-the-chancellor-promised-passports-to-haitians-in-the-dr.html ;

Wednesday, President-elect Jovenel Moïse promised in turn to provide identity documents to Haitian migrants living illegally in the Dominican Republic so that they can renew their status and avoid being expelled to Haiti from August 2017, after a one-year extension granted by President Danilo Medina https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-18010-haiti-flash-danilo-medina-grants-one-year-more-to-140-000-haitians.html

Jovenel Moïse at the National Palace in Santo Domingo promised journalists that the delivery of necessary documents will be accelerated, the delay of which has prevented thousands of Haitian immigrants from obtaining permission to reside temporarily in the Dominican Republic.

Moïse recalled that he had met Tuesday with representatives of the Haitian community in the Dominican Republic, to whom he had given assurances that the treatment would be accelerated, so that they could renew their temporary residence permit.
