Sunday at daybreak a serious incident occurred during a Dominican military control at the level of "El Hielo del río Masacre".

Sergeant Julio de la Rosa explained that he was on patrol with two other soldiers, when a small group of Haitians attacked them with knives and a rifle. In a brief but violent confrontation the Haitian Paulimus Antoine, 34 years old who held the rifle was shot dead by a bullet fired by Sergeant Julio Alberto de la Rosa, who in turn presents some bruises and superficial wounds on different parts of the body.

According to the medical examiner, Dr. Rosibel Grullón, the victim was shot by the bullet with no exit to the thorax, however, the forensic examination could not be completed on the spot and was to continue at the morgue of the Padre Fantino Montecristi hospital, because the Haitians close to the victim prevented the Dominicans from doing this examination on the spot.

The two other Dominican soldiers confirmed the version of the aggression by Haitians, a version that will have to be confirmed or not by the investigation which was opened.
