Haiti - Diplomacy : Ricardo Seitenfus ordered Knight of the Republic of Haiti 05/03/2011 11:30:46
The former Representative of the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), the Brazilian Ricardo Seitenfus had taken position last December, in an interview published in the Swiss newspaper "Le Temps" https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-1963-haiti-social-the-causes-of-the-failure-of-the-international-community-in-haiti.html on the causes and errors which led to the failure of the international community in Haiti, shocks statements that have been around the world. If there is evidence of the failure of international aid, is Haiti. The country became a Mecca [...] We are not experiencing civil war. Haiti is not Iraq or Afghanistan. And yet the Security Council, since lack of alternative, imposed peacekeepers since 2004 [...] The world has never known how to deal with Haiti, so he ended up ignoring it [...] We want to make Haiti a capitalist country, an export platform for U.S. market is absurd [...] Il existe une relation maléfique ou perverse entre la force des ONG et la faiblesse de l’Etat haïtien..." Following these statements, the diplomat was "forced to resign" of the OAS, receiving in return the admiration of the Haitian people for his courage and his frankness. To honor the diplomat, Ricardo Seitenfus was ordered last Thursday, Knight of the Republic of Haiti by the Government, in recognition of "his value and his courage to defend the dignity of the Haitian people" a ceremony that was held in the presence of Igor Kipman the Brazilian Ambassador to Haiti and representatives from the OAS National Office in Haiti.
