Tuesday, as part of the preparatory meetings with the various sectors of the country, the Technical Secretariat of Organization of the Sectoral General States of the Nation (EGSN) met with leaders of Youth Associations and members of the Government Youth of Haiti (GJH).

This working session allowed the Technical Secretariat, accompanied by the members of the Steering Committee, to present the objectives of these Estates General and to gather the opinions of these groups of young people.

Questions related to the purpose of these Estates General, the lack of public policies for young people, the functioning of public institutions, were discussed during this meeting. Young people also discussed the problems of corruption, political instability, poor distribution of the country's wealth, accountability and loss of confidence in the authorities.

Young people have pointed out that this loss of trust and credibility in public institutions discourages some honest citizens from serving the State. They also believe that the State stands up against the Nation and that it is more than necessary to establish a political agreement to solve the problems of political instability that the country has been facing for several decades.

The representatives of these youth organizations also spoke of the need to put in place legal provisions that will enable citizens with a solid academic background to access positions of responsibility at the state level. According to these young people, it is not normal to continue electing senators and deputies who have no university education.
