Haiti - 212nd Dessalines : Message to the Nation of Prime Minister Céant
Tuesday, on the eve of the day of commemoration of the assassination of the Emperor Jean-Jacques Dessalines on 17 October 1806 in Pont-Rouge (North of the Capital), Prime Minister Jean Henry Céant addressed the Nation, message taht we invite you to share.

Address to the Nation of Premie minister :

"Haitian people,

All my compatriots,

Today, a month after my general policy statement in front of the House, I think it's important that I come to talk to you. This is very important because in a democracy, citizens must hear their leaders, leaders must hear their citizens.

Today is a special day, it is the anniversary of the death of our father Jean Jacques Dessalines. It is the eve of the day when we must all remember what the Emperor has represented for us, how his ideas have remained alive until today. Solidarity with each other, national unity, inclusion of the country's children, for the revival of the country's economy.

But I must also say that some of our compatriots want to take this opportunity to demonstrate, to make their voices heard on issues important to the country's life. It's their right. They have the right to do so in peace and order. It's for that right that many have fought, many of us will continue to fight. This is one of the rights that the Constitution guarantees. Likewise this Constitution also guarantees that every person in the country can live in peace, security and peace throughout the country.

These rights mean that no one should fear people; Neither in what they say, nor in what they do. To respect oneself is to ensure social peace, to allow businesses to function, that young men and young women find jobs. It is to allow the tourists to visit the country, to allow the farmers to sell their production, thus allowing the operators to operate. Social peace is good for everyone, for the whole country.

Under the leadership of Jovel Moïse, the government I led decided to accompany all citizens who decided to demonstrate to defend their ideas. The police will accompany any demonstration respecting the rules of the game. Our national police will protect all citizens who decide to live in peace. Everyone has the right to demonstrate, but it must be done in the respect to each other. This is the rule of democracy.

But the police are also obliged to apply what the law provides to all those who have decided to spread the turmoil in the life of the country through acts of violence. The police will not tolerate violence on people or violence on property. The police received instructions to put order in the mess. A country can not live in instability or in the attack on people or goods. We know that people make great sacrifices to open a business, buy a car, build a house. The police will not allow a group of people to remove these sacrifices.

The people who take responsibility for the organization of a demonstration, take the responsibility that this demonstration runs smoothly. They take their responsibility when they drop the papers for the demonstration, what they have to say to all the demonstrators is to do it in accordance with the law. These organizers of these demonstrations are responsible for the damage and personal responsibility is engaged.

My compatriots,

Haitian people,

The country has arrived at a crossroads. Or you choose to continue working to grow, so that your children create wealth, so that all your children have the feeling that they can all live together as people; or the demons of division are left; of trouble, breakage hinder its development. I ask all Haitians, all mothers, all fathers to talk with their children and their families to ask them to be quiet, to ask them to trust the new government. I also ask them on this anniversary day to think about the great things he has done for the nation :

- Inclusion of the country's children.

- Solidarity with each other.

- National units.

- Peace in the head and heart to rebuild our country, restore its dignity.

What Dessalines wanted,

That's why we work.

It's for you that we work.

Long live Haiti

In tranquility, in peace, in fraternity! In the best of life for us all."
