Haiti - Economy : Socio-economic situation of the country, the Minister of Finance in Parliament
Thursday, the Standing Committee "Economy, Finance and Budget" of the Chamber of Deputies invited Ronald Décembre, the Minister of Economy and Finance to discuss several points relating to the socio-economic situation of Haiti.

During the discussions, was discussed the 2017-2018 amending budget, the outlook for the 2018-2019 budget for the exchange rate policy, the depreciation of the Gourde, the Monetary Office for Development Assistance Programs (BMPAD),of revenue from the General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) and Customs.

The Deputy of Saint-Louis South Gandhy Dorfeuille (PHTK), President of the Commission sees in this meeting a response to the constitutional obligations of parliamentarians and its many concerns vis-à-vis the economic situation of the country, including the depreciation of the gourde in relation to the dollar, the adaptation of the new budget (2018-2019) to the Haitian socio-economic reality and the lack of control over the activities undertaken by most of the autonomous state bodies.

The deputy took the opportunity to inquire about the strategy adopted by the Minister and the various Directors General to enable the DGI and Customs to increase their tax revenues and reduce the budget deficit.
