Haiti - Culture : Establishment in Santo of a new cell of the National Institute of Music of Haiti
On November 15 at the Ethnographic Museum of the National Bureau of Ethnology (BNE), Jean Michel Lapin the Minister of Culture and Loune Viaud Director General of the NGO "Zanmi Lasante" (ZL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in order to the establishment of a new cell of the National Institute of Music of Haiti (INAMUH) in the locality of Santo (Croix-des-Bouquets, West).

The launch of this unit of INAMUH should allow children from 3 to 18 years in the area to have access to a solid academic and musical training to make citizens responsible, emancipated, able to serve as models, no only to our youth, but to all their compatriots of all ages.

"Most of the children who will be considered under this new program are young people with disabilities or disadvantaged and we are happy to be able to invest in such an initiative," said Viaud.

As part of this agreement, "Zanmi Lasante" undertakes, among other things, to provide the Ministry of Culture with a room equipped for teaching purposes and will pay the teachers' remuneration. For its part, the Ministry will ensure, among other things, the administrative establishment and recruitment of the faculty of this new unit.

Recall that the INAMUH project was launched under the Martelly presidency in June 2012 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-5887-haiti-culture-official-launch-of-the-national-institute-of-music-of-haiti.html . The launching of INAMUH's System of Orchestras and Juvenile and Infantile Choirs of Haiti was launched in February 2013 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-7788-haiti-music-launching-of-the-system-of-orchestras-and-choirs-juvenile-and-infantile-of-haiti.html and the first core of the National Institute established in Pandiassou (Hinche) in March 2014 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10774-haiti-music-presentation-of-the-first-components-of-the-orchestra-of-the-national-music-institute-of-haiti.html

It should be recalled that INAMUH was created as part of a partnership between the Haitian State and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Currently, the National Institute of Music of Haiti is present in Hinche, Jacmel, Martissant (3rd communal section of the city of Port-au-Prince) and Marmelade. These units host a total of nearly 1,000 children.
