Haiti - Politic : The new Government still blocked by the opposition

While the Gourdes continues to depreciate (91.7 Gourdes for 1 US dollar) and the international community suspends its direct budget support for lack of a legitimate Government for 2 months now, aggravating the socio-economic crisis in Haiti, the new Cabinet of 18 ministers remains stuck because of disagreements with the parliamentary opposition.

In addition, the minority opposition of the Chamber of Deputies seems to align with their colleagues in the Senate and also demand the withdrawal of all the ministers renewed in the new Government.
According to our sources, the parliamentary opposition plans to use all legal means to prevent what they call "the violation of the Constitution" which suggests that the ratification session could be again postponed.
In the meantime, the approval of the budget law for fiscal year 2018-2019 remains suspended for ratification by the Prime Minister, 8 months after its entry into force, confirmed Jean Michel Silin, Director General of the Budget.
