Haiti - D-1 : 64,593 candidates expected for the regular BACC exams
Friday, at a press conference, Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education, accompanied by its Director General, Meniol Jeune, the Director of the National Office of State Examinations, Renan Michel, the Director of Secondary Education, Maxime Mésilas, the Port-au-Prince Government Commissioner, Paul Eronce Villard and representatives of the Haitian National Police reassured the population of all the provisions adopted for the passing of the final exams .

Cadet said that "in concert with the judicial authorities and the police, all measures have been taken to allow candidates to undergo the tests in a calm and calm manner and to counter any action that may occasionally reveal harmful to the passing of these official tests."

From Monday 8th to Friday 12th, 142,912 candidates will take part in these official exams including: 64,593 candidates for the regular Baccalaureate (traditional), 23,735 candidates for the 2nd session of the Bacc of "récalés" (that failed) and 54,584 candidates for the Secondary renovated according to the figures communicated by BUNEXE.

Regarding the irregularities related to the validation of the candidates, Minister Cadet was clear "the candidate who has not passed the exams of 9th fundamental year will not be allowed to compose. For the problems identified with regard to the history of success in second and rhetoric, special considerations were made this year not to penalize candidates, pending the report of a commission of inquiry into cases of fraud and corruption that will be noted for the legal consequences. All persons identified as internal or external, particularly the school principals involved, will be punished and prosecuted by the law." Penalties that may vary according to the fault, from the prohibition to enroll candidates to the vat for a given period until withdrawal of the school's license or authorization to operate.

"It is unacceptable for school principals to give false pass marks to failed candidates in another school, just to make more money at the expense of education values," said Cadet firmly.

Meniol Jeune recalled the instructions that will be strictly enforced during these days of examinations including among others the prohibition of the carrying of the weapon, the forbidden use of programmable calculators and cell phones, obligation of the wearing of the uniform for the new candidates.
