Haiti - Politic : Michel Martelly meets the Haitian Diaspora Federation
At the invitation of the Haitian Diaspora Federation, , the President-elect Joseph Michel Martelly has participated, Thursday, May 12, 2011, to a meeting at the Karibe Convention Center. The Senate President Jean Rodolphe Joazile, Senators Youri Latortue and Steven Benoit, the first haitian commissioner of Miami-Dade, Jean Monestime, the Judge Lyonel Jean-Baptiste of Chicago, Mayor of North Miami, Me André Pierre, Deputy Mayor of Spring Valley Antony Joseph Desmarais, the founder of the Federation, Dr. Bernier Lauredan and Major Joseph Bernadel were among the guests.

The president of the Federation, Dr. Joseph Baptiste, has renewed the support of the Diaspora to any initiative of the elected President in favor of the Haitian people, which he commended the courage. One of the most poignant moments was noted during the intervention of the businessman Dumarsais Siméus who praised the sense of service and leadership of President Martelly. "With the election of Michel Martelly, I think there a hope of change for this country," has launched Mr. Siméus. He recalled that the Diaspora is counting on the contribution of parliamentarians of the 49th Legislature to assist the President Martelly to realize his projects.

In a symbolic gesture of brotherhood and unity, the 56th President of the Republic has invited the parliamentary aforementioned and the Minister Edwin Paraison to join him on the podium during his speech. A gesture which was much applauded by assistance. "We are now servants of the people, our relationship can not be a relationship of conflict, even if we agree that there will be disagreements. We must recognize that our role is to bring wellness to the people," said the President-elect which took this opportunity to congratulate the parliamentarians who have voted for the amendment of the Constitution and applaud the overtures made to the diaspora. He wants to believe, however, that this decision in favor of the diaspora is a harbinger of yet more concrete actions.

As he has already done on many occasions, the President Martelly has invited Haitians from abroad to organize so that their contribution to the country to be more effective in terms of economic and social impact. He invited the members of the diaspora to create a fund that they could manage themselves within the framework of development projects for Haiti.

The President took the opportunity to disclose certain aspects of his plan for the first 100 days in office whose a "week of the Diaspora" and a "Tourism Week". He invited the members of the diaspora to join him to promote the country around the world.

"Despite everything, Haiti, remains an attractive and rich countries. My recent working visits in cities across the country have strengthened my belief in its potential," concluded the President-elect.
