Haiti - Politic : Martelly chooses Daniel Rouzier as Prime Minister
24 hours after his inauguration, the new President of Haiti, Michel Martelly wish, look to a respected business leader for the post of Prime Minister. Quoted by AP (The Associated Press) Thierry Mayard-Paul, the Chief of cabinet of President Martelly said that the President had chosen Mr. Daniel Rouzier, because of his past of accomplished entrepreneur "his resume speaks for itself [...] We believe that he can be very effective at managing the government."

Despite his references, the ratification of this choice could meet opposition in the Parliament "We believe there will be a little resistance" stated the Chief of cabinet of Martelly "But we also believe, and President Martelly believes, that we can show that he's the right choice."

This choicen will probably be the first battle between the President Martelly and a Parliament where the legislators (INITE) loyal to Préval, enjoy a comfortable majority. In recent days, rumors of the choice of Daniel Rouzier, had already caused before the hour, tension and negative reactions from some Parliamentarians because of his lack of political experience. Sources close to the leaders of the party INITE, have indicated that the choice of Rouzier as Prime Minister, had no chance to be confirmed by parliament, as required by the Constitution...

Recall that, according to the Haitian Constitution, the choice of the Prime Minister is made in consultation with the presidents of both chambers (Deputies and Senators) in the case where the party of President of the Republic did not have a majority in parliament [This is the case, the party of Michel Martelly "Respons Peyizan" has only 3 seats in the lower house and none in the Senate].

Mr. Rouzier is CEO of Sun Auto, a leading car dealership, he's also the President of the power plant E-Power, first project of electric power realized by the private sector in Haiti.

He made studies in management and accounting, Ivy League graduate of Dartmouth and Georgetown University, Rouzier is deeply religious. Author of "Believe, Love and Hope" through which he explains his intimate relationship with the Christ, his wife and his children, and two essays "The Power of Ideas" and "Vision or Illusion" in which he addresses important issues such as : the economic conjuncture, economic policy and political Government, sociology. Daniel-Gérard Rouzier has a strong presence in the political environment and has developed a good relationship with the Haitian political class.
