At the initiative of the Department of Epidemiology, Laboratories and Research (DELR) of the Ministry of Public Health, agents from the National Ambulance Center (CAN) stationed at Toussaint Louverture International Airport, took part in a training on the prevention and control of a person suspected of being contaminated by the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

On the front line in the introduction of a possible suspected case of COVID-19, which could arrive by air, these CAN agents learned the management protocol, the use of personal protective equipment and the precautions to be taken in the transportation of any patient. Simulation sessions were conducted at the International Airport and personal protective equipment was provided to participants.

This 2-day training, given by Dr. Jeronimo Canahuiri Ayerbe and Dr. Daniella Satyr, both consultants for the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO); Epidemiologist Apollon Destiné, airport surveillance manager and Dr. Joane Adrien, epidemiologist at DELR, is part of PAHO technical support to Haitian health authorities to consolidate preparation for a possible introduction of the new Coronavirus in the country.
