A delegation from the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), led by Regional Manager Nilse Ryman, is currently staying in Haiti as part of the cooperation projects of the Ministry of National Education with the GPE.

On March 5, a first working meeting chaired by Jackson Pléteau, the Director of Cabinet of the Minister of National Education Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, in concert with Delima Pierre the Director General of the National Office for Partnership in Education (ONAPE), made it possible to take stock of the work agenda as well as the terms of reference of this mission which will continue until March 13, 2020. The criteria of the partner agent for monitoring the financing of the PDEF will also be on the agenda https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30041-haiti-education-meeting-of-the-follow-up-committee-of-the-accelerated-financing-of-the-global-partnership-for-education.html . Also taking part in this meeting were representatives of the Studies and Programming Unit, the Minister’s office, the Directorate General, education and quality pole, the World Bank and UNICEF.

Nilse Ryman was delighted to be there, in order to gather as much information as possible on the progress made, notably in the finalization of the Ten-year Education and Training Plan (PDEF) and the prerequisites for funding.

For the GPE it will also be a question of contributing to the establishment of the Local Group of Partners in Education (LGPE), by finalizing the terms of reference and the coordination mechanism.

Gustave Joseph, the Inspector General serving as liaison between the Ministry of Education and the PME shared a set of information on the preparations for this mission and the list of guests expected at the various working sessions.

Let's recall that an amount of $16.5 million in support for education projects in Haiti is provided by the GPE https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-26700-haiti-washington-consensus-on-the-disbursement-of-165-million-of-support-to-education.html if all the prerequisites are satisfied by the end of the year 2020, in particular with regard to the finalization of the PDEF.
