Haiti - Politic : A few words of President Martelly in Florida
At brunch, organized yesterday Saturday by the Consulate General of Haiti in Miami, to the Kovens Conference Center of the Florida International University North Campus the President Martelly was welcomed by a standing ovation from local elected officials, business leaders and members of the diaspora.

In his allocation, the President Martelly has given the same message that during his previous trips in Florida, insisting on the need of the return of the Diaspora to help Haiti "Return home and help Haiti" adding, "Everyone here has an important role" before more than 150 guests.

Despite some difficulties, "Haiti is open for business" declared the Head of State. Citing as an example the investments to Jacmel in the tourism industry, Michel Martelly did not hesitate to qualify the city of "one of the gems of the World..."

During his speech, the President Martelly has repeatedly asked to the public to have confidence in him and his administration.

Although those present, was largely acquired, the President responded to some criticism of the Diaspora, among others: on the postponement of the constitutional reform that allows to the Haitians to have dual citizenship. Attempted to reassure the President Martelly declared "I will defend dual nationality because it's good for Haiti". Some have contested his decision to impose a tax on transfer of money for the National Fund for Education (FNE), designed to enable more than 500,000 Haitian children, to have access to free schooling. "no Haitian Child should be left behind" answered Martelly, "we will provide education to all our children" adding "There will be accountability in my government, and I promise to implement an auditing process to ensure that revenue from the cash-for-education initiative will not be misused."

While Reita Bourget, a member of the Haitian Alliance of Atlanta, obviously conquered has declared that she’s willing to give him a chance, Joe Celestin, the former mayor of North Miami, was more reserved "He still has a lot to do to bring the country together [...] we have to wait and see if that can happen."
