Haiti - FLASH : What did the FNE do with tax money from the diaspora in 2020 ?
The National Education Fund (FNE) created in 2011 under the Government Martelly Lamothe https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-3034-haiti-education-launch-of-the-national-fund-for-education-fne-by-martelly-update-1h03pm.html was this year on all fronts. Despite the socio-political upheavals and the health crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the FNE has been able to achieve some of its objectives. And awards itself the satisfaction of having contributed to advancing the cause of education in Haiti through every action she was able to take.

Summary of the highlights of the FNE for the year 2020 :

School feeding for 20,000 schoolchildren :
Over 20,000 schoolchildren in the North-East benefited, during the 2020/2021 school year, from a school canteen program funded by the FNE. This aid concerns 75 schools in 11 municipalities.

25 national schools under construction :

1,000 scholarships for Haitian high school graduates :

Tuition support :
103 million gourdes have been granted by the FNE to cover the costs of schooling for several thousand children across the 10 departments of the country. Construction of the Lycée of Frères :
The DG of the FNE, Joseph F. Completion of school infrastructure (High schools) :

School equipment and furniture :
More than 35 million gourdes were invested during the 2019-2020 school year in the manufacture and purchase of school materials and furniture which were distributed in public schools across the country.

Education allowance :
About 6,000 needy families benefited from an allowance for the 2019-2020 school year, through a system of "back to school vouchers" set up by the Ministry of National Education and financed by the FNE.

Salary arrears : (education agents)
4,822 agents of the education system : teachers, school directors and maintenance staff of the MENFP received their salary arrears in cash for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.

School rehabilitation :
From 2019 to 2020, more than 40 schools were rehabilitated across the country. Most of these establishments are located in the West and North West departments.

Vocational training :
The FNE provided financial support to three vocational training centers during 2020 :

Educational support :
4 educational institutions located in rural areas (Cite Soleil, Baudin, Thomonde, Léogâne), benefited from FNE support for their rehabilitation and equipment.
