Haiti - Politic : Prime Minister, the suspense continues
Despite the return of President Michel Martelly last Friday, which has shortened his participation in the 32nd Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community, because of negotiations between the Presidential Commission and the various political forces to reach a consensus on the next Prime Minister, the name of the latter is still not known and the suspense continues.

This Monday was to be the last negotiation session, but obviously the Parliament and the Presidency play extra time. Sorel Jacinthe, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, has wanted to be reassuring in the day, he indicated that the discussions continue with the Presidency and that he hoped that the Head of State will finally take a decision. He confirmed that the choice of President should be made on one of the three names retained from a list of ten names [ Jean Max Bellerive, Jean Henry Céant and Me Bernard Gousse]. . Sorel Jacinthe and Rodolphe Joazile [Senate President] met with the Head of State at the National Palace ...

Several political leaders are concerned about the slowness of the head of state to designate a new prime minister. For Himmler Rebu, wanting to play with time is a miscalculation and the President is mistaken if he believes that this will play to his advantage. For Paul Evans, this indecision of President Martelly clearly shows his lack of political experience...

According to several sources, Me. Bernard Gousse seem to be favored by the President Martelly, "a choice", which is far to make the unity... The comments of Senator Edwin Zenny [personal friend of the President] who declared "We are not supporters of the continuity, we do not want a Prime Minister with its own political agenda" clearly imply the elimination of Bellerive and Céant.

But the possible selection of Me Bernard Gousse creates division and opposition. The Senator Simon Desra Dieusel, hopes that the President renounce to this candidate, saying that this eventual candidate has no chance of being ratified. Remarks confirmed by parliamentarians of the Parliamentary Group for Renewal (GPR), most of them have vowed to derail the possible candidacy of Bernard Gousse, accusing him of being a GNBiste and a fierce anti-Lavalas.

In summary, based on available information, the position of Members of Parliament would be:

Me Bernard Gousse : many objections (choice of the President)
Jean Henry Céant : no major objections
Jean Max Bellerive : no objection

What will be the choice of President ? He will still wait ? Or he will surprise everyone ? The Head of State leaves the country tomorrow for a big European tour, the name of the candidate for the Prime Minister Office could be known today, but nothing is certain...
