Héctor Timerman, the Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs received last evening at the Palace San Martín, the presidential adviser Daniel Supplice, and probable future Minister of Foreign Affairs of Haiti. Together with technicians from both countries they discussed of the cooperation programs that Argentina is developing in Haiti, particularly the program Pro Huerta which helped to create in the Caribbean countries around 12,500 gardens that provide the livelihood and work for 90,000 people.

The idea of the Haitian government is that this program could reach 4 million people, while the role of Argentina in this project is relating to the cooperation, to the development, the control, the selection of the techniques and the monitoring.

The delegation sent to Buenos Aires by the President martelly, composed of his political adviser Daniel Supplice, the Senator Francisco De la Cruz, of Jean Edner Nelson and of Herbert Docteur have conducted a series of meetings during the day of yesterday, with different personalities and officials of the Government of Argentina in order to explore the areas of collaboration, of exchanges and of cooperation between the two countries.

Last July Héctor Timerman had met with President Martelly, at this meeting the President thanked him for the "quick response of Argentina on the occasion of January 12, 2010, and in particular for the work done at the Argentine military field hospital in the care of victims, he had also emphasized on the solidarity of the cooperation of Argentina and his interest of deepening it..."

After January 12, 2010, the government of Argentina has donated to Haiti 35 tonnes of maize and beans seed, 600 sets of tools and 5000 training manuals. These seeds have been distributed to 17,000 families in six departments (Artibonite, Centre, North, Northeast, West and South-East).
